What to wear?

  1. BulletWear similar tones and colors. Unity of color is pleasing to the eye and makes your family look close. This does not mean everyone has to buy new clothes.  Different shades of the same color look great! Jeans in any shade always look great or khakis in different hues go well together.

  2. BulletDress from head to toe.  Make sure shoes go with your clothing choices. Even if you are not thinking about full-length or close-up poses your photographer is.

  3. BulletWear similar “styles”- This means wear season appropriate clothing together.  Dad in a sweater and mom in a summer dress should be avoided.

  4. BulletMake sure your clothing fits! Clothes that fit properly feel better and look better.  Tight clothing reveals too much and baggy clothes can make you appear bigger.

What not to wear-

  1. BulletAvoid busy designs and large logos. Patterns and stripes take the focus away from you and put it on the clothing. Trends come and go. If your logos are large they distract and date your photos.

  2. BulletAvoid shiny or reflective clothing. Distracting!

  3. BulletAvoid too much jewelry. Some pieces are nice but can take the focus away from you. Wear appropriate styles and pieces to complete your look.

  4. BulletAvoid sleeveless styles. Sleeveless clothing shows off your arms.  No matter what we do they will be prominent. You may be able to pull it off, you know who you are.  If not, sleeves are great!

  5. BulletAvoid leather. Unless you are a biker, a rockstar, or cowboy it is not for photos.

Women-

  1. BulletBe conscious of your neckline. Certain necklines flatter your neck. V-neck is great for everyone. Round necklines are great for long necks. Well fitting jackets are also great for everyone.

  2. BulletLayers are fantastic. A single-breasted jacket over a tight-fit, square-neck top looks fabulous.

  3. BulletFingernails- Your nails may show.  Make sure they look how you would like.

  4. BulletIf you plan on a new hairstyle make the change at least one week before your portrait.  It takes time to get used to and comfortable with a new style.

Men-

  1. BulletDarker colors are usually best for men.

  2. BulletFacial hair- A clean shave always looks nice. If you prefer facial hair make sure it is trimmed and well groomed.

  3. BulletFingernails- Your nails may show.  Make sure they look how you would like.

Children-

  1. Bullet Dress kids in similar tones.  Super-hero t-shirts are awesome but not for professional photos.  If your child is very attached.  Wear it to the studio to change here.

  2. BulletThink of classic styles and timeless designs.

  3. BulletBring special toys and props if you would like to include them in the photos. Personal or special family props can make a portrait more special.

Everyone-

  1. BulletTans are great. Sunburns are not.  Try not to schedule a session the day after being in the sun.

  2. BulletHave fun. We have a good time here, you will too!
