The making of a memory…

In a blink… it seems a year goes by and then another and then well you know the old saying, the older we get the faster the passage of “time”.  That being said, when we look at family pictures from past generations we have a tendency to go back in our minds to that special time long ago.

Recently I had the wonderful experience of ‘meeting’ my grandparents (whom I never met in life) through film. My cousin had access to our grandparent’s movies dating back to 1941 and his son digitized the home movies and very carefully identified who these mysterious people were in the old movies. Needless to say to me these images of my grandparents ‘brought to life’ and my parents, aunts and uncles, cousins and siblings are priceless to me. And I wasn’t even born yet at the time these images were captured.

So to the point- why pictures? Why spend time with a professional photographer and develop a relationship with a portrait studio? And why is it important to have these images “in print”?  Why have hard copies or something tangible with your cherished images? It is a fact that change is the only thing that is constant. Technology is constantly changing but a print stays long after the technology evolves. Case in point, the home movies (film on a reel) become part of today’s technology in a digital format.

So why not think about family pictures with a professional photographer?  And now is the perfect time!
